230°F steam is widely used in commercial cleaning to loosen and lift grease, grime, soap scum, and sticky residue from sealed hard surfaces — no chemicals needed. Results depend on contact time, surface type, and condition.

Follow the flooring or surface manufacturer’s instructions first and use steam only when permitted. On compatible sealed tile, stone, finished wood, or laminate, start at the lowest steam setting, fit a microfiber bonnet, keep the head moving, work briefly, dry immediately and completely, and test an inconspicuous spot first. Do not steam unsealed, waxed, or oil-treated wood.

No. Fill the tank with clean water only. In hard-water areas, use distilled or demineralized water. Never add detergent, cleaning solution, powder, oil, fragrance, or any other additive. If pretreatment is needed, apply it only to a compatible surface and follow that surface manufacturer’s instructions; never put it in the tank.

Yes — Goehner’s runs on regular tap water. Like any steam cleaner, hard water leaves mineral buildup inside over time that can slow the steam and shorten the machine’s life. For the best performance and the longest life — especially in hard-water areas — we recommend distilled or demineralized water.
